As a college student in 1997, I began to become intrigued by the depth of flavor that the heat from peppers and spices can add to almost any food when a local sub shop near my apartment would put hot peppers on almost all of their sandwiches. At first, it was a bit much for my taste buds but over a short period of time, I began to crave the heat, flavor and release of endorphins that came with those peppers more and more. So much so that it would make my mouth water in class and I'd have to make a stop on my way home for lunch, of course asking for extra hot peppers on my sub.
Fast forward a few years to post-college life, and I could not keep enough hot sauce in my kitchen cabinets. At that time in the early 2000's, there were only a handful brands available online outside of the usual ones typically found in most grocery stores, even today. It was around that time that I began to experiment with making my own sauces with some encouragement from family and friends. One recipe that I kept coming back to is what I call "Jalabanero", a smooth combination of jalapenos, habaneros and other carefully selected ingredients designed to complement any dish and please the needs of heat seekers while still adding the depth of flavor they crave.
As it turns out, family, friends and co-workers love sampling hot sauces, and with their encouragement, I decided to expand my universe and launch "The People's Sauce Co." for everyone, and the rest is history. We're always testing new varieties like smoked and fire roasted sauces, as well as new spreads, dips and more, so keep an eye out for more to come!
